We played music on a playground in Butovo about the presence of war nearby. We found a strange place with six broken xylophones that produced an astonishingly beautiful and complex sound. Some of the keys on the xylophones emitted a clear melodic tone, while others sounded like metal rails or pots. I devised a simple score for a small performance, where participants used the sounds of the xylophones and saws to convey the atmosphere of the metro and a room, and then selected sounds that expressed their pain.
There was also a section about the movement of air, where everyone played on broken whistles and flutes. In the final, longest part, we heard 504 strikes to represent the number of days of war at the time of the performance.
